Tokenized gold on-chain
Token by token
"Ounces" is the supply each blockchain reports, less any tokens the issuer reports holding in its own reserve. Each token is one troy ounce of gold. "Value" is ounces multiplied by the gold price from Chainlink's XAU/USD feed.

How we count
- We read each token's total supply directly from each blockchain the issuer lists.
- Tokens the issuer reports as created but held in its own reserve, not yet sold, are removed, using the issuer's own transparency figures.
- Each token is one troy ounce of gold. Value is ounces multiplied by the gold price from Chainlink's XAU/USD feed on Ethereum.
- Every address is labeled by how we know it belongs to the token: listed on the issuer's own address page, or confirmed in writing by the issuer. Addresses with neither are not counted.
- Bridged copies (for example XAUt0) are not counted again; the gold is counted once, on the chain where the issuer creates the token.
- Chains the issuer has retired are not counted, even if tokens remain on them.
Scope: Tokens backed by allocated physical gold, where each token is a claim on a set weight of gold held in a vault, using addresses the issuer itself publishes or confirms in writing.
1. What we count, and what we leave out
We count tokens backed by allocated physical gold held in a vault, where each token is a claim on a set weight of gold, and where the issuer itself tells us the token address.
Every address is labeled. A means it is listed on the issuer's own public address page. W means the issuer confirmed it in writing instead (named and dated).
We remove tokens the issuer reports as created but still held in its own reserve, using the issuer's own transparency figures. This is the same rule we use for stablecoins.
We leave out bridged copies, because the gold behind them is already counted where the issuer creates the token; chains the issuer has retired; and gold funds or ETFs that only track the gold price without allocated bars.
2. Why our total differs from other trackers
Other dashboards may show a different gold total. The usual reasons:
- Unsold tokens. Some trackers count every token that exists. We remove tokens the issuer says are still in its own reserve.
- Bridged copies. Counting a bridged copy and the original would count the same gold twice.
- Gold price timing. We value gold at Chainlink's on-chain price at the time of each update, every 6 hours.
Seen, but not added: XAUt0 (bridged Tether Gold). Each XAUt0 is backed by XAUt held on Ethereum, which we already count. Source
